It looks like Ventria's planned lock, stock, and barrel move to Missouri may not be happening after all. The Missouri Development Finance Board has decided NOT to pledge $10 million needed for the construction of the Missouri Center of Excellence for Plant Biologics on campus at Northwest Missouri State University.
In the article linked above from the Maryville Daily, Scott Deeter, CEO of Ventria had this comment:
“We regret that after several attempts, the financing did not materialize, leading to delays that require Ventria to consider other options for fulfilling its business objectives,"
This is a definite opportunity for other
communities out there looking to develop their own plant biotech community. It will be interesting to see where they land.
