Common Sense for the Biochemist

I would like to give a belated welcome to another blogger whose interests lay in biotech. The Medicine Vault is written by "a mid-level biopharmaceutical worker desperately trying to keep a job and earn a living, raise a family, and stay awake all without opening a vein." As my career plans are currently under major revision, an entry of his is particulary relevant. It is especially true in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry that you are basically a contract worker. Although it is not the best position to be in, from my experience in the "real world" you just have to get used to it. You also have to be very careful with you financial planning, making sure that you have a little put away just in case the company tradewinds start blowing a different direction and you find yourself being "negatively retained"
